Terms of Use and Privacy Policy — AFK Utils

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE

AFK Utils is an independent, third-party tool and has no affiliation, sponsorship, endorsement, or connection whatsoever with Webzen Inc. or the MU Online game. “MU Online” and related trademarks belong to Webzen Inc. AFK Utils only monitors, locally, the game client window already installed on the user’s computer — it does not modify, intercept, or interact with the game’s servers in any way.

Using third-party tools may violate Webzen’s / MU Online’s Terms of Service and could result in penalties on your game account (including bans), which are the user’s sole responsibility.

1. Who we are

These Terms of Use and Privacy Policy (“Terms”) govern the use of the AFK Utils application, made available by José Vicente de B. Jr (“we”, “the data controller”).

By creating an account or using AFK Utils, you (“user”) agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the application.

2. Eligibility

AFK Utils may only be used by individuals 18 years of age or older. By accepting these Terms, you represent that you have full legal capacity.

3. What AFK Utils does

AFK Utils is a desktop (Electron) application that helps MU Online players monitor the game client window(s) open on their own machine — for example, detecting when a window closes or changes state — and receive notifications about it (via email and/or Telegram, as configured by the user).

4. Data we collect

We only collect the data necessary to operate the service:

4.1. Account/registration data Name, email, password (stored hashed, never in plain text), phone and date of birth (when provided), preferred language, notification preferences, and your Telegram chat identifier (telegramChatId), when you opt in to receive notifications there.

4.2. Subscription data Information about your contracted plan, its validity period, and payment status. When a third-party payment processor is integrated into AFK Utils, this document will be updated with a specific section describing it — currently no payment is processed automatically by the application.

4.3. Device data (machine fingerprint) To enable monitoring and identify your machine(s), the application periodically sends to our server: a locally generated machine identifier, the computer name (default: hostname), CPU model, GPU name, total RAM, operating system version, and the current count of monitored windows.

4.4. Screenshots — processed locally To identify the game window and detect its state (e.g. paused/active), the application captures thumbnails and images of the MU Online window locally, on your own machine. These images are never uploaded to or stored on our servers — they remain only in the application’s memory while it is running, used to display the window in the app’s own interface and to perform local state detection.

4.5. Custom descriptions Names/descriptions you assign to monitored windows, for your own organization.

4.6. Data sent to third-party services to deliver notifications When you enable email and/or Telegram notifications, we send the event text (e.g. window name, timestamp) and the corresponding address/identifier to those providers (our email delivery provider and/or the Telegram Bot API), solely to deliver the notification to you.

4.7. Local storage on your device The application stores locally, on your computer, your settings, preferences, and session credentials (including your access token and email), so you don’t have to log in every time. We recommend keeping access to your computer secured, since this data is stored locally in plain form.

5. What we do not do with your data

• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
• We do not share your data with Webzen Inc. or any entity related to MU Online — there is no integration whatsoever between AFK Utils and the game’s servers.
• We do not collect browsing data, geolocation, or IP addresses.
• We do not use third-party tracking, analytics, or telemetry tools.

The only data sharing we perform is strictly what is necessary to operate the service, described in item 4.6 above (notification delivery), and in the future, with a payment processor (once integrated).

6. Legal basis and purpose of processing

We process your data based on (i) the performance of the contract/service you requested, and (ii) your consent, where applicable (e.g. Telegram notifications). Purposes: enabling registration and authentication, monitoring game windows at your request, sending notifications you configured, managing your subscription, and providing technical support.

7. Data retention and deletion

We retain your data while your account remains active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting support@afkutils.com. Deletion will be carried out within a reasonable timeframe, except where longer retention is required by law.

8. Your rights

You may, at any time, by contacting support@afkutils.com: confirm whether we process your data; access your data; correct incomplete, inaccurate, or outdated data; request anonymization, blocking, or deletion of unnecessary data; request data portability; withdraw your consent; and request information about who we share your data with.

9. Security

We adopt reasonable technical measures to protect your data (e.g. hashed passwords). No system is 100% secure; in the event of a security incident that could pose a significant risk, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.

10. Disclaimer regarding the game

AFK Utils is an optional auxiliary tool. José Vicente de B. Jr is not responsible for any penalties, suspensions, bans, or losses arising from the use of this application in connection with MU Online, nor for instability, in-game data loss, or service unavailability.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. Material changes will be communicated within the application itself. Continued use of AFK Utils after an update constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
